Astronomy Education at the University of New South Wales Department of Astrophysics. UNSW offers programs leading to the following qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science with Minor in Astronomy
- Honours degree in Physics and Astronomy
- Postgraduate Diploma in Physics
- Master of Science in Astrophysics (by research)
- PhD in Astrophysics
Included within the physics degree are the following subjects:
- PHYS1241 Higher Physics 1B (Special), includes So lar System Astronomy (1st Year)
- PHYS2160 Astronomy (2nd Year)
- PHYS3160 Stellar Astrophysics (3nd Year)
- PHYS3170 Cosmology and the Interstellar Medium (3rd Year and Honours)
- PHYS3550 General Relativity

Three general education elective subjects are also offered to UNSW students not majoring in physics:
- Astronomy - introduction to astronomy.
- Are We Alone? - evolution and the search for life in the Universe.
- Brave New World - an exploration of the relationship between Science Fiction and real world science
